About Me

I am a licensed mental health counselor and I serve clients in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas. I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in various treatment settings, including private practice. I graduated with a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Houston – Texas (2006). I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas–Houston (2003).

I am passionate about providing professional support and guidance for individuals who have experienced trauma. My specialization includes working with clients facing challenges such as sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, neglect, religious influence, and generational issues. I also address feelings of shame, anxiety, and depression, as well as concerns related to codependency, narcissistic abuse, and fear of abandonment. Additionally, I promote gentle and respectful parenting techniques aimed at helping new parents break free from cycles of trauma.

My desire to become a therapist is deeply rooted in my personal experiences. As a child, I often wondered why life was so painful. By the age of 8, I had endured significant trauma, including the loss of both parents and various forms of abuse. During this time, I struggled with depression and felt a pervasive sense of hopelessness.

However, everything changed the day I decided to speak to my middle school counselor. For the first time, I felt truly heard. That moment was transformative; I finally felt like I had a voice. My counselor’s empathy and understanding inspired me to pursue a path of helping others in similar situations. I realized that support and connection could facilitate healing, and I wanted to be a source of that support for others.

Today, I work with college students, professionals, and new parents who are seeking to heal and break free from the cycle of trauma. I understand firsthand the complexities of navigating these experiences and the importance of creating a safe space for healing. My mission is to empower my clients to find their voices, foster resilience, and cultivate emotional well-being.

Together, we can navigate the challenges you face and work toward building a brighter future.

My Approach

I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, combining various modalities to best meet the unique needs of each client. My methodology includes:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): This technique is effective for processing trauma and reducing the emotional distress associated with traumatic memories.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, promoting healthier behaviors and emotional responses.

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy: This approach emphasizes the development of self-compassion and understanding, helping clients to overcome feelings of shame and self-criticism.

  • Shame-Focused Therapy: I address issues of shame and guilt that often accompany trauma, helping clients process these feelings and foster a more positive self-view.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): IFS allows clients to explore different parts of themselves, fostering understanding and harmony among these internal voices.

Above all, I believe that connection is the cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where my clients feel truly heard and valued. This foundational connection allows for deeper exploration and healing, empowering clients to navigate their challenges and achieve meaningful personal growth.
